The District 65 instrumental music curriculum includes the following areas of focus for each year of study:
In Middle School Orchestra essential skills and concepts are reinforced through high-quality repertoire selected. Key areas in include major and minor keys, shifting, vibrato, bowing styles, musical styles, advanced rhythms, curricular vocabulary, ensemble playing, and ensemble leadership.
A consistent practice schedule is extremely important for building a foundation on your instrument! Be sure to practice at least "your age" every day. For example, if you are 12 years old, practice a minimum of 12 minutes a day! It is better to practice a consistent amount each day than to practice for a long period of time one or two days.
Remember: challenges are opportunities to grow!
